How to choose a sunroom addition manufacturer

Now that you have decided that you would like to build a sunroom addition to your home you need to find a reputable manufacturer to carry out the work or supply the kit. How do you do that? Well here are a few tips to get you started:

Ask your friends

The best location for getting advice on who does a good job or not is your friends and family. Do you know anyone who has had a sunroom addition installed? Were they pleased with the job? What was the quality of the construction like? Was the sunroom completed on time and on budget?

Ask to see references

Any popular sunroom manufacturer or installer should be able to provide a list on installs that they have worked on and hopefully some of them should be available for you to go and see. Do they have any contact phone numbers of people who have bought sunrooms from them. If so don't be afraid to call them and ask their opinion on how the sunroom install went. They may also have a showroom for you to look round and see examples of their work. Actual sunroom addition installs are a more realistic situation though.

How old is the company?

Whilst all companies have to start somewhere is it advisable if you are unsure to use a well established firm so that you can be sure that the warranty is worth something in a few years and that the company hasn't disappeared.

Beware estimates

A good company who has installed many sunrooms should be able to give you an exact figure of how much the sunroom install should cost. If they can only give you a rough estimate then beware as this is no guarantee of the final price.

Good not cheap

For the sunroom to add value to your home it needs to be of good quality and so when choosing a company focus your questions on ensuring a good job will be done to the level of quality agreed upon in the contract. Asking for an excellent job should be no problem.

Who will install the sunroom?

Does the company employ its own workforce on a full-time basis or do they recruit local contractors to do the job, who may or may not be specialized in building a sunroom.

Building Permit

Depending on whether you buy a sunroom kit or not will determine whether you need to get the building permit or the company does. Ask who should do the paperwork. This should be a very common question and not be a problem.

Finally - Quotations

Ideally get three written quotations for the sunroom addition and make a check list of what you liked and disliked about each of the companies. Discard any prices that seem unrealistically low or high and if necessary get some more companies in to provide quotes until you are happy with the price, the company, the quality and the contract. Above all don't feel pressured or rushed by heavy handed sales tactics, you are under no obligation to buy anything until the contract is signed.
